Let’s Plan a Trip Designed Around You!

Luxury Resorts in Turks and Caicos: Top Picks for 2024

In the world of luxury travel, there’s always something new to learn, explore, and experience. That’s one of the reasons I love what I do—it’s a profession that constantly challenges us to deepen our knowledge and refine our craft.

Recently, I was accepted on a journey with ID Travel Group, a remarkable luxury tour operator known for curating some of the most exquisite luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos. This trip took me to the stunning shores of Turks and Caicos, where I had the opportunity to explore 15 of the finest villas and luxury resorts.

I’m excited to share the insights I gained during this incredible experience in this article. I’ll first take you through the stunning island of Providenciales, highlighting the must-do activities that make this destination so special. From the world-renowned Grace Bay Beach to the thrilling water sports and unique culinary experiences, you’ll discover why this island is a top choice for luxury travelers.

I’ll then walk you through what stood out at each property, the features that make them unique, and, yes, even the aspects that may not have been my favorites. Whether you’re dreaming of your next getaway or actively planning a trip to Turks and Caicos, this insider perspective will help you discover the perfect slice of paradise that fits your vision of luxury. Let’s dive into the details of these breathtaking luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos.

The Island: Providenciales

Turks and Caicos is a stunning archipelago, but most luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos are concentrated on the island of Providenciales, often referred to as “Provo.” This is the island we flew into, and it serves as the hub for most travelers seeking the pristine beaches and luxurious accommodations the islands are famous for. One of the appealing aspects of staying on Provo is that it remains relatively tranquil compared to the other islands in the chain. For example, the cruise ships dock at Grand Turk, bringing the hustle and bustle of day-trippers. On Provo, you don’t have the same influx of cruise ship passengers, allowing for a more relaxed and private atmosphere—perfect for those looking to unwind and connect.

The weather was typically Caribbean during our stay: sunny and hot, with the perfect amount of breeze. Most days were clear and bright, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. We did experience one day of cloudiness and light rain, but that was a blessing in disguise. That was our busiest day, packed with tours of the various luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos, and the cooler weather made it much easier to navigate and explore the properties comfortably. It was a small reminder of how even a bit of rain can enhance the experience by giving you a break from the heat while discovering everything these beautiful accommodations offer.

Must-Do Activities on Providenciales

When you’re not relaxing at your luxury resort or villa in Turks and Caicos, there are plenty of incredible activities to immerse yourself in. Here’s a detailed list of must-do activities that will enhance your stay and help you experience the best of what the island has to offer:

Non-Motorized Water Sports:

  • Many luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos offer complimentary non-motorized water sports, such as paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. These activities allow guests to explore the clear, turquoise waters at their own pace.
  • Kite Surfing at Long Bay: If you’re up for an adventure, head to Provo for some of the best kite surfing conditions. The steady winds and shallow waters make it ideal for beginners and seasoned kite surfers.

Land Sports:

  • Horseback Riding: Experience the thrill of horseback riding along the beach or through the scenic trails of Providenciales. This is a unique way to see the island’s natural beauty up close.
  • ATV Tours in the National Parks: For adrenaline on land, consider an ATV tour through the national parks. You’ll explore rugged landscapes, discover hidden spots, and enjoy breathtaking views.

Boat Tours and Excursions

  • Snorkeling at the Barrier Reefs: Take a boat tour to the nearby barrier reefs, where you can snorkel among vibrant coral and colorful marine life. This is a must for any underwater enthusiast.
  • Fishing Charters: Whether an experienced angler or a beginner, charter a boat for a day fishing in the rich waters around the islands. The catch of the day could be your dinner!
  • Jet Skiing at Long Bay Beach: For those seeking more high-speed fun, Long Bay Beach is one of the top spots for jet skiing. The water conditions are excellent, and with no restrictions on jet skis, it’s a perfect place to let loose and enjoy the thrill of the ride.

Culinary Delights

  • Make sure to venture out and savor the culinary offerings around the island. Providenciales has many wonderful restaurants, from casual beachside cafes to fine dining establishments. Enjoy fresh seafood, Caribbean-inspired dishes, and international cuisine, all while soaking in the island’s relaxed atmosphere.

Here Is A List of Dining Recommendations in Turks and Caicos

These activities are just a taste of what you can experience on Providenciales, making your stay as active or leisurely as you desire. Whether you’re drawn to the water, the land, or the dining scene, there’s something for everyone to enjoy outside the confines of your luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos.

Grace Bay: The World’s Best Beach

No mention of Providenciales would be complete without highlighting Grace Bay Beach, often hailed as the World’s Best Beach. Its powdery white sands and impossibly turquoise waters create a picture-perfect setting that captivates visitors from around the globe. Whether you’re strolling along the shore, taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters, or simply lounging under a beach umbrella, Grace Bay Beach offers an unparalleled experience that is truly second to none.

A Note on Villa Ownership and Management

One aspect of staying in villas on Providenciales is that most of these properties, even those within the luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos, are privately owned. However, the resorts manage them, ensuring guests receive consistent, high-quality service. This arrangement allows for a personalized experience, blending the comfort of a private home with the amenities and services of a luxury resort.

Wymara Resort and Villas a modern luxury boutique resort on Grace Bay

Wymara Resort + Villas

Location: Grace Bay Beach, Providenciales

Room Stayed In: I stayed in the Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The suite was beautifully appointed, offering modern elegance and, without a doubt, the best view of the ocean. Waking up to the sight of the turquoise waters every morning was a highlight.

Favorite Amenity: My favorite amenity was the Dyson Hair Dryer. The little touches make a stay feel extra luxurious, and having this top-of-the-line hairdryer available was a delightful surprise.

What Makes This Luxury Resort Unique: Wymara stands out because it offers the best of both worlds. While you can enjoy the full resort experience with all the amenities you’d expect, you can also stay in expansive villas that accommodate families with up to five bedrooms.

Favorite Part: The dining options at Wymara truly impressed me. Even though I didn’t get a chance to eat at Indigo, I heard fantastic things about Chef Andrew Mirosch. His reputation precedes him, and Indigo is on my list for my next visit to Wymara.

My Favorite Activity: Swimming in the beautiful turquoise water of Grace Bay was my favorite activity. The clarity and warmth of the water made every swim feel like a luxurious experience.

Favorite Dining Experience: Dinner at Blue Water Bistro stood out, especially if you’re a seafood lover. They had an outdoor seafood buffet that was simply wonderful. However, if seafood isn’t your preference, I recommend dining at Indigo that evening instead.

Who Would Enjoy This Hotel: Wymara is perfect for multigenerational family groups looking for luxurious accommodations, a mix of resort amenities, and spacious villas. The variety of options makes it an ideal destination for families seeking privacy and togetherness.

Beach Enclave long bay your own private paradise

Beach Enclave Long Bay

Location: Long Bay, Providenciales

Stay Location: I stayed at Beach Enclave Long Bay, located on the protected east end of the bay. This stunning location offers a perfect blend of privacy and luxury, making it ideal for a serene getaway.

Room Stayed In: My accommodation was a two-bedroom beachfront beach house, an absolute dream. The spacious, well-appointed house had direct access to the beach and breathtaking views. The private pool was a perfect place to unwind after exploring.

Favorite Amenity: My favorite amenity was the included breakfast, which was freshly prepared by our butlers each morning. There’s something incredibly indulgent about waking up to a beautifully set breakfast without lifting a finger.

Favorite Activity: My favorite activity was enjoying a glass of wine in our private pool with colleagues. The combination of great company, fine wine, and a private, serene environment made for an unforgettable experience.

Favorite Dining Experience: The chef-prepared in-villa dinner was a culinary highlight. Having a private chef create a personalized meal for us in the comfort of our villa added an extra layer of luxury to our stay.

Service: The Beach Enclave Long Bay service was exceptional, particularly the butler service. Waking up to a fresh pot of coffee that I didn’t have to make myself was a delightful touch that set the tone for a day of relaxation and enjoyment.

Room for Improvement: The only area for improvement is the hot water situation in the showers. We experienced some issues with getting hot water, which, while minor, was noticeable during our stay.

Who Would Enjoy This Resort: Beach Enclave Long Bay is perfect for those seeking a private, luxurious escape with all the comforts of home but with the added luxury of personalized service. It’s ideal for families, groups of friends, or colleagues looking for a serene and exclusive retreat.

The Shore Club Resort premier luxury villas and suites on long bay beach

The Shore Club

Location: Long Bay, Providenciales

Room Stayed In: I had the pleasure of staying in a one-bedroom deluxe at The Shore Club, and from the moment I arrived, I knew I’d never want to leave. The room was impeccably designed with luxury and comfort in mind, offering stunning views and all the amenities you could desire for a perfect stay.

Favorite Part: My favorite part of The Shore Club was dining at Sui Ren, a Peruvian and Asian-inspired fine-dining restaurant. The flavors were exquisite, and the ambiance was just right for a memorable evening. Sui-Ren is a must-visit for any food lover staying at the resort.

Service: The Shore Club’s service was genuinely exceptional. One morning, I had a delightful conversation with a pool butler who was incredibly friendly and informative. These interactions elevate the experience and make you feel genuinely cared for.

Who Would Enjoy This Resort: The Shore Club is an excellent choice for both families and adult groups. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly environment or a sophisticated adult retreat, It provides the perfect balance of luxury, relaxation, and activity options.

Grace Bay VIlla Collection Kisiwa and the Dunes Private Luxury Villas

Grace Bay Villa Collection

Location: Grace Bay, Providenciales

Villas Visited: I had the opportunity to tour two stunning villas in the Grace Bay Villa Collection: The Dunes and Kisiwa Villas. Both villas are located in the beautiful and sought-after Grace Bay area.

Villa Designs: Each villa in the collection has its distinct character. Kisiwa Villa features Caribbean architecture with unique influences from East Africa, giving it a charming and exotic feel. On the other hand, The Dunes Villa embraces a more modern aesthetic, with sleek lines and contemporary design elements. Both villas were impeccably designed and offered a sense of luxury and comfort.

Suitability for Groups: These villas are ideal for larger family groups or groups of adults. Kisiwa Villa offers six bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 12 guests, while The Dunes Villa features five bedrooms and accommodates up to 12 guests. Both properties provide ample space for guests to relax and enjoy their time together in a private, luxurious setting.

Highlights: Kisiwa and The Dunes were gorgeous, with breathtaking views and top-notch amenities. Whether you prefer the charm of Caribbean architecture or the sleekness of modern design, these villas cater to different tastes while maintaining a high standard of luxury.

Considerations: The only downside to these villas is that they are not part of a resort, so you won’t have immediate access to resort-style amenities and services. As a result, I would highly recommend renting a car during your stay to explore the island and access nearby attractions easily.

West Bay Club Luxury Oceanfront Resort.

West Bay Club

Location: Grace Bay West, Providenciales

Unique Feature: One of West Bay Club’s standout features is its children’s program. The notes and drawings on the wall show that kids love it here and often return year after year. The warmth and care provided by the staff in the children’s area have left a lasting impression on many families, making it a special place for younger guests.

Resort Atmosphere: While West Bay Club is undeniably beautiful, it doesn’t have the same luxury feel as some other luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos we visited. The resort itself is charming, with well-maintained grounds and a welcoming ambiance, but the rooms could benefit from a refresh to bring them up to par with the more luxurious options on the island.

Suitability for Families: West Bay Club is particularly well-suited for families with younger children. The combination of a dedicated children’s program, a relaxed atmosphere, and a family-friendly environment makes it an excellent choice for those traveling with little ones.

South Bank Luxury Caribbean residences. A new living concept

South Bank

Location: Long Bay, Providenciales

Neighborhoods and Layout: South Bank is a unique villa community of different neighborhoods, each offering its distinct style and ambiance. The layout is thoughtfully designed to cater to various tastes and preferences, ensuring something for everyone in this luxurious waterfront enclave.

Favorite Part: My favorite part of South Bank was the Boat House Units. These unique accommodations come with a boat slip right outside your door, making them ideal for those who love boating. The convenience and luxury of having your boat steps away from your villa add more appeal to this impressive property.

Development Status: It’s important to note that parts of South Bank are still under development, so it’s hard to recommend specific improvements now. However, the potential for this location is immense, and it’s already shaping up to be a boater’s paradise.

Who Would Enjoy This Location: These villas are perfect for boating enthusiasts who want the luxury of waterfront living with the convenience of having their boat at their doorstep. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to combine a love of the sea with a high-end lifestyle.

Fun Fact: South Bank shares the same initials as my name, Sue Ball, which makes it easy for me to remember and adds a personal touch to my experience there.

The Rockhouse Intimate beach experience. Inspired by the Amalfi Coast

Rockhouse

Location: North Coast, Providenciales

Unique Design: Rockhouse is a truly unique resort built directly into the rocky landscape of Providenciales’ north coast. The stunning Amalfi Coast inspires the design with its blend of natural beauty and sophisticated architecture. The result is a beautiful property that seamlessly blends with its surroundings, offering guests a one-of-a-kind experience.

Affiliation: Rockhouse is proudly part of The Leading Hotels of the World, a distinction that speaks to its commitment to providing exceptional luxury and service. This affiliation ensures guests can expect the highest standards in both hospitality and accommodations.

Suitability: This resort is particularly well-suited for couples celebrating honeymoons or anniversaries. The romantic ambiance, coupled with the breathtaking views, makes it an ideal destination for special occasions. However, it’s important to note that most units require guests to walk up steps, which could be challenging for seniors or those with mobility issues. This is something to consider when choosing this resort.

Overall Impression: Rockhouse is a stunning property with a unique blend of luxury and natural beauty. Its design, location, and affiliation with The Leading Hotels of the World make it a memorable choice for couples celebrating a special milestone in an intimate and picturesque setting.

Somerset on Grace Bay and intimate boutique resort in Turks and Caicos

Somerset of Grace Bay

Location: Grace Bay, Providenciales

Overall Experience: Somerset of Grace Bay was my least favorite of all the luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos we visited, mainly due to the weather conditions during our stay. It was raining, and unfortunately, some of the buildings and elevators had no power, which, while understandable on the islands, did affect the overall experience.

Resort Atmosphere: Despite the challenges, I appreciated the resort’s casual feel. Somerset has a laid-back, welcoming vibe that would appeal to those looking for a more relaxed environment. It’s not as upscale as other properties, which could be a plus for travelers who prefer a more down-to-earth experience.

Suitability for Budget-Conscious Travelers: Somerset would be perfect for the more budget-conscious traveler who still wants to enjoy Grace Bay’s beauty. The resort offers a more affordable option without sacrificing location, making it appealing for those looking to get the most value for their money.

The Beach Enclave private villas. Experience the exceptional.

Beach Enclave Grace Bay, Beach Enclave North Shore, and Beach Enclave The Reserve

Locations:

  • Beach Enclave Grace Bay: Grace Bay, Providenciales
  • Beach Enclave North Shore: North Shore, Providenciales
  • Beach Enclave The Reserve: North Shore, Providenciales

Overall Experience: All of these Beach Enclave villas were simply amazing. Each property offers a distinct and luxurious experience tailored to different preferences, but all share the common thread of exceptional quality and service.

Dining Experience: Unfortunately, we couldn’t have lunch at the Beach Enclave North Shore Bluff Bar as initially planned due to the rain. Instead, we enjoyed lunch in the villa, a delightful experience. We preordered from the bar menu, and I particularly enjoyed the excellent conch fritters. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, the quality of the food and the comfort of the villa made the meal memorable.

The Reserve: Beach Enclave The Reserve is in a class of its own, offering an ultra-luxury experience. It includes exclusive amenities such as round-trip luxury SUV transfers from and to Providenciales (PLS) airport and daily private chef services for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These touches elevate the experience, making it perfect for those seeking the pinnacle of luxury.

Suitability for Groups: None of these villas are part of a resort, which makes them ideal for luxury groups who want to spend quality time together in an exclusive, private setting. Whether you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a luxurious retreat, these villas provide the perfect environment for a memorable stay.

Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos a luxury Turks and Caicos Family resort

Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos

Location: Grace Bay, Providenciales

Beach and Overall Experience:
The Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos beach is spectacular, with its pristine white sands and crystal-clear waters. Although we had some difficulty seeing the rooms during our visit, we did have a pleasant walk around the resort, which gave us a good sense of the property’s overall ambiance.

Resort Atmosphere:
The property is beautiful, with the elegance and luxury you’d expect from a Ritz Carlton. The grounds are meticulously maintained, and the public spaces exude a refined yet welcoming atmosphere.

Suitability for Guests:
This property is best suited for guests loyal to the Ritz-Carlton brand and regularly stay at its properties worldwide. It offers the consistent luxury and high standards that Ritz-Carlton guests have come to expect, making it a perfect choice for those who appreciate the brand’s signature style and service.

Seven Stars Resort on Grace Bay the Worlds best beach

Seven Stars

Location: Grace Bay, Providenciales (right next door to the Ritz Carlton)

Beach and Overall Experience: Seven Stars shares the same spectacular beach as its neighbor, the Ritz Carlton, offering guests stunning views and pristine sands. This resort is a fantastic option for everyone, providing a well-rounded resort experience that caters to a wide range of travelers.

Resort Atmosphere: Seven Stars would be one of my top choices on the island for guests looking for a full resort experience. The rooms have a typical Caribbean feel, with comfortable furnishings and a warm, inviting ambiance. The largest unit available is a three-bedroom suite, perfect for families or groups.

Affordability and Accessibility: What sets Seven Stars apart is its moderate pricing, which makes it accessible to many travelers without compromising on the quality of the experience. It offers excellent value, making it ideal for those seeking luxury in a more budget-friendly package.

The Palms Resort a laid back luxe resort in Turks and Caicos

The Palms

Location: Grace Bay, Providenciales

Atmosphere and Overall Experience: The Palms has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The resort describes itself as “laid-back lux,” and I couldn’t agree more. The vibe here reminded me of Key West’s easygoing charm and understated elegance.

Dining Experience: We enjoyed a delightful al fresco dinner at Parallel23, where I had a wonderful beet salad and a delicious pasta dish. A live musician playing outside further enhanced the already serene and enjoyable ambiance.

Suitability for Guests: The Palms is well-suited for older Gen Xers or young Boomers who enjoy a relaxed yet luxurious environment. The resort strikes the perfect balance between comfort and sophistication, making it an ideal choice for this demographic.

Upcoming Refurbishments: The resort is scheduled to undergo some refurbishments. While it’s not in bad shape, the upcoming refresh will elevate the rooms and overall experience, ensuring that The Palms remains a top choice for travelers seeking laid-back luxury.
